Just call me princess yo yo

My mom called the other day and asked if i would make her a yo yo quilt. I said sure, knowing not how to make them or what i am getting myself into. LOL
I did my research , looked up several videos , believe it or not there is this great tool out there made by clover that makes the yo yo process easier.
I figured i should practice before my mom sends me the fabric to make them. I decided to use scrap fabric. It took me a while but i now know how to do them and they are so easy to do. Actually i love making the yo yo's, they are actually addicting to make, so much so i am making a civil war quilt with the yo yo's them for me. 😃
Here is a picture of the yo yo's i made so far.

I am now working on three quilts at the same time and soon four when i receive the fabric from my mom. Oh Happy Day.

Siging off as:
Princess Yo Yo (only because i would not want to be a Queen)
Have a Blessed Day

Ahh looking out the window

When ever i go to sit down and quilt, Lucy (my dog) feels the need to be on my lap quilting with me. It is hard for me to quilt with a dog on my lap, so i gave her something else to do. I put fabric (which she thinks all the fabric is hers and tries to claim it by laying all over it lol) top of my light box so she can look out the window. It keeps her busy bird, squirrel and rabbit watching. 😃

Happy Quilting

I decided to make a wallet. Those of who   know me making purses and wallets are very hard for me to do.

I found by doing one step at a time for this pattern i was able to do it, much easier for me.

The Spring Air

Spring is a time of fresh air, i love the warm sun with the breezes. One of the things i look forward to do from spring through fall is hanging wash/fabric on the clothes line. Today i have fabrics on the clothes lines, because of the breeze they dry in about 15 minutes.

Dot to Dot

When i was a child we use to do dot to dots all the time. Research has shown that doing these are good for the brain. Today they make them anywhere from easy to complicated. The dot to dots are made not only for children but they make them for adults too.  They have dots that you do from north south east west directions, alphabet, numbers up to 2000 or more, two pages connected, arrows ect...and they list goes on. They are fun to do and some are very challenging(at least for me)
Enjoy!!

1847 Baltimore Bride's Quilt

My husband bought this kit for me two years ago. I don't work on it all the time. The pattern is from Lake View Primitives.
I just finished this block.
All the blocks are done by hand with the blanket stitch. The fabric is wools on top of black flannel. I love working with the wool and flannel.
Here are some others blocks i have finished:
I only have three blocks to go :)

Oh Happy Day!!

A Good Read

I am one of those people that have to hold a book in my hand and turn the pages. I tried the computer or the nook and i just couldn't do it . It was not the same.
I love to read books that catch my attention from the beginning.
I like reading , non fiction, history, quilts, people, and fiction/history.
My favorite authors are Jennifer Chiaverini, Beverly Lewis. My newest find is Ann Hazelwood. I read her fist novel in the East Perry Series it was really a good read and I can't wait for her next book in the series to come out.
The one book that i learn from everyday is The Bible: I do bible studys and it helps me in my faith. The bible can be read a 100 times and every time you read it you learn from it. God is good!!!
Until next time
Happy Reading

MCS

Many of us with MCS have problems with smells/ordors.  I have recently developed a skin condition. I am now on my fifth visit to the dermatologist and he told me to change my soaps , shampoos etc..Little did the doctor know that it took me months and a money to find the right soap, shampoo etc. all the ones that i couldnt use i donated. Here is what i was using: Dessert essence for shampoo -it has a waxy smell but i am able to put up with, glycerin unscented soap, and cetaphil for hand washing, boarax for the washer and plant derived unscented laundry soap
The doctor said that glycerin soap irrates the skin and is making the skin inflamed. Borax also can harm your skin. So he told me to use the following:
Free and Clear shampoo -way better then what i was using and no smell at all.
Neutrogena orginal formula facial bar but can use on the body also-It has a orange smell to it and is made of glyercin.
All free and clear laundry detergent i wouldn't even attempt to open it because it smells on the outside  package. At least i got a better shampoo out of the information.
Have a Smell Free Day

Shapes

The easiest way to cut out a shape for me is using the "Accuquilt Go machine". I bought mine used (cheaper that way) i have one of the older models, it dosnt need to be plugged in like the newer models you hand crank it, which is easy to do. The dyes come in lots of shapes and sizes. They are expensive but well worth it.
Here are some tips:
Buy the dies on sale or used lightly
Buy the designs you will use often
Keep them clean
You can use them not only on fabric but also paper.
Mix and match your designs/shapes
You can use more then one layer of fabric
Get involved in a swap (imagine all the shapes/ designs and different fabrics/paper you will get.
This is a good way to use your scrap fabrics.
Here are some of the shapes i have. (Sorry for the wrinkled backround. Note to self iron the backround lol )
Have a Happy Heart Day

T.G.I.F.

T.G.I.F. Stands for (in my own world)Thank Goodness its Fabric Day.
I started to use fridays for the day to look through my fabrics, shop for fabrics, organize fabrics, ect..it may take a whole 10 minutes or hours it just depends what i am thinking at the time.
Today i am going through my fabric to match fabric to make pillow cases. Then i can spend the weekend through next week to make them.
God Bless and have a Fabric weekend :)

Taking a Class

I love to learn new things and i think i am a pretty good student(lol)As many of you know, i can't go to quilting classes anymore do to my health, however i found a way to take quilting classes on line, its not the same as having a bunch of friends in a classroom all talking at the same time but it works. I bought some quilting classes on Craftsy , and i love it. Not only do they have quilting classes but also they have a variety of other classes too. I took Edyta Sitar's - Garden of Quilted Possibilities. She gave lots of pointers and is a great teacher. Very easy to follow.  The first project in her classes was a table runner, of course i added my spin to it and it came out great. I made this for my mother-in- law , who is a wonderful person.
I added the hearts by hand with a blanket stitch.

I dont know about you ,but i am one of those people who do one or more things while watching/listening tv. One of my favoriate series right now is Downton Abbey. As i was watching last nights episode i was tangling( i call it glorified doodling).I was trying to capture the era and this is what i came up with: i am not good at this but i sure do have fun.

It's Here, It's Here!!!

I don't know if you get excited about getting your favorite quilting, sewing, crafting ect... magazine in the mail but i do and mine came today. :) One of my Favorite Quilting magazines is Primitive Quilts and Projects. Here is why: Besides having quilt projects, they have cross stitch, rug hook, needle punch and stitching all in one.  The pages are top quality and the articles are great.
It is always fun to look and read about the next project you will choose to do.
Happy Reading!!!

A Good Health Day

Have you ever noticed that a lot of people have health problems? We are living in a toxic world. Most of our food is either made with chemicals or sprayed with chemicals. Today I want to talk about MCS-Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. Anyone who has MCS can tell you that this is very real and no it is not in our heads. I was diagnosed with MCS about 2.5 years ago. My world was turned up side down. It started out with i couldn't eat much, came home from work very fatigued. At first it was certain smells that bothered me, I would get itchy through out my body, fatigued, and sick to my stomach.  Then it became all smells bothered me. I had to stop going to church, quilting classes, quit my jobs, stop seeing friends and family, life became hard/different.  Now I am at the point where anything that comes into the house either get aired out or washed. I can't use anything with a fragrance, plastics and everything in this world are really strong to me, the smell of a dryer sheet in the air Yuck...Basically everything.  I had done lots of research on this subject and tried lots of medical treatments naturally. The only thing that gets me through the day is God and prayer, friends & family. I am better off then most people who have health problems, and feel blessed. I can walk, talk, see, and breathe with no problems.

There is a website called MD Junction. I have met many people on there.  So if you need to talk with people who have the same health problem as your self go to mdjunction. com

Many Blessings to you & Have a Healthy Day!!
