YoYo Quilt

Hi Everyone;

I know its been a while. The months had flown by since I had blogged last.

Here is the latest: The Yo Yo Quilt is done. Here is a picture of it. I hand tied it to go with the error. It is made out of civil war reproduction fabric.  Each yo yo was sewn by hand.

I have been looking for years to find the right fabric to make curtains to match my bedroom. My bedroom is painted a light purple. Well, I finally found the fabric. I ordered it from Missouri Quilt Company. It is called WildWood Way made by RJR. They made the fabric differently, the process is called DigiPrint.  It looks so real to me. Here is a picture of the first  curtain. The Wildwood Way is white with the  wild flowers.

I will be working on the rest of the curtain panels & learning a new pattern in Quilting.
Enjoy the Weekend.
Happy 4th of July.

Wool Applique

Hi Everyone

I have been busy working on hand applique eye glass cases.I find doing wool on flannel is much easier then doing wool on cotton.  I learned the smaller the shape the harder it is to do, also it loses the shape.
In the meantime My Yo Yo Quilt is done but when i took it off the hand quilting frame it had waves in it. So I am ripping it out to start over again. My guess is I had it too tight on the frame. This is a learning curve and I will figure it out.
Looking forward to Spring
Happy Quilting/Sewing

Organizing- Pipe Cleaners

Pipe cleaners are not only good for all kinds of arts and crafts but I also use them for:

Cleaning out my sewing machine (from dust bunnies) the dust does cling to the pipe cleaners.

Putting a pipe cleaner through a thread cone add the matching bobbin thread. It is great for taking to a class or when traveling. They won't get lost as easily.

I found a new way for me to use them today. You know all those scan cards for stores to get a discount just slip a pipe cleaners through the hole, put cards in Alphabetical order, all in one spot easy to have scanned.

Organize

Hi Everyone;

It's that time of year. I needed a better system to organize my floss. I found on Amazon nuts and bolt drawers made by AKRO-Mils.  The drawer are stackable 64 drawers per unit.
First I went by color and now I am numbering the drawers. I finally like a system that works for me.

Happy Organizing

Cheryl

PS- I am still working on my Yo Yo Quilt, I should be done soon.

Potters Charm

Hi Everyone

I posted after the first of the new year telling you what I had been up too for the past 6 months and what I was working on. Somehow it got erased. So I will just update you on what's happening.

Before christmas I was working on a rope bag/purse for my sister carol

It was made out of clothes line rope and batiks. She was surprised and loved it.

Next I was working on my Sister Cindy's table Runner called Potters Charm, the purpose was to match the table runner to her polish dishes. I took the pattern from the Spring 2016 Primitive Quilts Magazine,which is my favorite magazine out there. This project was challenging because I had learned new techniques. The first thing was making the circles with a cardboard template it took me time to get used to it but when i was done I was confident about how to make them. Next, I learned how to do a chain stitch for the vine.  Then sewing wool to cotton, which was not my favorite. I prefer wool on flannel(much easier) But in the end I loved how it came out.

Do you think they Match?

I am still working on my Yo Yo Quilt and can't wait to get it done.
Blessings
Cheryl
